Minority Owned & Ethnic Origin
This article explains how to map custom onboarding fields to standard D365 Vendor profile fields, specifically in the context of US customers, relating to Minority Owned and Ethnicity.
The same applies to any other countries or fields.
To achieve this result, we'll use custom onboarding questions and custom field mappings in D365, to support this scenario out of the box, without extra customisations.
This article describes the most elegant and cost effective to achieve this result.
The same can be achieved through development if / when necessary.
Overview
The minority owned and ethnic origin are 2 vendor profile fields available in D365 out of the box.
These questions are not part of a standard Eftsure onboarding, therefore these questions are not asked by default during standard vendor onboarding.
It is critical for some of our US customers to collect this information from their suppliers.
To achieve this result, please follow this guide.
Portal
Onboarding form
The Eftsure key user can head to Eftsure portal and configure one or multiple onboarding forms with the following:
- New Profile custom section.
- New Minority Owned Single Selection (Radio).
- New Ethnic Origin Single Selection (Combo box).
Ensure to name your field appropriately in the Export Header Name Override as the field name will later be used in D365 mapping
There is no direct link between Eftsure's list of Ethnic Origins and D365's list of Ethnic Origins. Changes need to be performed in both systems in sync, otherwise might lead to field validation issues.
Configure these new questions:
The second new field Ethnic Origin should only be visible and required if the response to Minority Owned is Yes.
Please see a quick video of the end result while onboarding:

D365
Field Mappings
Please see Field extensions for more information.
Configure the relationship between Eftsure onboarding fields and D365 columns as per the above.
Onboarding review
Once an onboarding has been completed, the new questions will be displayed at the bottom of the onboarding, with all other custom questions:
Validate these new questions as part of your vendor review.
Vendor creation
Using the above mapping, once the vendor review is approved and the vendor is created, the following mapping will have occurred for the new vendor:
Conclusion
Using custom onboarding questions and custom field mappings, this solution allows additional mapping without involving development,
The mapping is done automated, reliable, saving manual actions from the end user.
